Plotting 2019 Job Hunt Strategy…
Greeting cards have all been sent. The Christmas rush is through. Now there is something every job seeker must do… Plan for 2019. Unfortunately, many candidates have put off their job search until now and, as a result, missed out on an extremely busy December. If you are in the job hunt, you now face heavy competition from people who decided to “attack the market vigorously” on January 2. So how do you plan on attacking the market? Here are some tips:
1.) Get your resume up to date- Add significant accomplishments from 2018- and make sure they are meaningful. And if you have not revised or freshened up your resume – now is the time to do it!
2.) Update your LinkedIn profile- Post a good, clean picture, update your job history, check for mistakes. Get it looking crisp and clean.
3.) Re-establish contact with recruiters- Just let them know you are out there and are truly interested in making a change this time, and not just checking out the market.
4.) Make contacts in your industry. Call old colleagues, managers, doctors, references. Wish them a Happy New Year. Ask if they have heard anything.
5.) Start subscribing to industry newsletters. They are chock full of information regarding company funding, new product introduction, company expansions, etc. There is no excuse not to do this- it could be your best source of information.
6.) Get your elevator speech ready. If you do not know what that means, just Google it
7.) Figure out what type of medical devices you want to sell. Google those companies, and send your resume directly to the hiring managers. You have nothing to lose!
